Today's Sky run was lots of fun. We put in on the South Fork, floated down playing on every feature, while Rob did hand loops and Brett spun on top of rocks. It was a good day. The Sky was pretty mellow, but I can tell already that it is going to be a big season. Going over the pass the day before to Tumwater Canyon, there was lots of snow... more than I've seen in my 4 years in Washington. I can't wait for the spring. The move of the day was the left side of Boulder Drop. At this kind of lower flow, there is a sweet line that goes left of the large boulder in the middle of the river. The danger with this line is that if you don't know the safe channel out, there are a number of vertical pin spot and general rocky gnar. However, there is one boof over a perfectly smooth rock that comes to a rounded dome at the top. Brett did a complete 360 on top of the rock before splashing down into the pool above the picked fence. It was superb. There was nothing new to note on the run. All the usual goodness. The rafters are beginning guide training, so keep an eye out for rafters out of control flying your way. For a better Sky description, check out these other trip reports:
