I helped out Abigail of Sierra Rescue on an SRT Class today for the Tribal Community Corps.  This class was a 4 day WRT and 10 hour Wilderness First Aid course.  We were on a small section on the South Fork of the Trinity River at Sandy Bar.  If you go past Willow Creek on 299 about 3 miles there is a right turn right before the bridge.  You take the road up to the sign that says “Sandy Bar” and follow the road down.  This is a nasty road, and is not for low clearance for sure.  As you come down to Sandy Bar, there are a few pullouts on the right side that have nice beaches for chilling on a warm day.  The put in at Sandy Bar has a small rapid above it, fun for swimmming in the class.  There are a few turns and bends in the river, but nothing really of consequence.

This section from Sandy to the Bridge at the confluence is less than 1 mile, and is not worth running.  It’s mostly flat with nothing interesting at all.  Abbe and I were sorely disappointed here.  As we came down to the bridge and the takeout (obvious trail on the right) there was a group of girls sunbathing topless, which probably was the best thing that happened all afternoon.
