To be totally honest, I couldn’t tell where Chili Bar ended, and this one began. I know that it happened somewhere in there, but I’m not really sure where. We passed through Coloma but I didn’t really notice Lotus. This would be a good run for beginner paddlers with warm water in the summer, big slow pools, and lots of recovery between rapids.
Coloma is an old mining town with a certain rustic charm. The Coloma Club is where all the raft guides hangout at the end of the day. This small town is over run with rafter, guides, and tourism all summer long. There wasn’t much of memory in this stretch of the river. There were a few rapids, some islands, some fun stuff. There was one rapid with a large ledge on river left that was easily avoidable. The best action was in the Gorge Section below here.
